Music Video Planning

As a group we are planning to film each separate scene on separate days as it allows us enough time to focus on capturing exactly what we want rather than rushing around trying to cram all filming into a short period of time.

Day 1. We are using Enfield Grammar School's main hall stage to recreate a scene from another Jazz artists video, Marvin Gaye. Furthermore we have arranged for a lighting specialist to help us create a high-key effect on Serine which contrasts from other jazz videos as they tend to be more relaxed and use softer tones.

Day 2. We are filing at Ellie's house where we can use her jacuzzi for a scene, we have set up additional decorative lighting as it helps to make the rise-en-scene look more romantic helping to provide the music video with more depth and helping to give viewers a clearer idea as to whats going on. Furthermore in many jazz videos alcohol is a common theme and therefore we felt here is the time to include some fake alcohol to give the video a more authentic look.

Day 3. Our music video contains a modern twist unlike many other jazz/soul videos. In some shots we are planning to have a couple walking in Wood Green Shopping Centre looking at engagements rings which contains irony as the girl in the scene is not actually the one that ends up getting married. Adding a hidden meaning in our video will boost the level of complexity and make it stand out more compared to other jazz videos where they can appear to be very simple and basic.

Day 4. Enfield Town is another destination we plan to use as it has a variety of shops and parks we can use to create footage with a modern twist. Using a busy place like Enfield Town strays far away from the conventions of any jazz songs as they tend to be in quieter locations to match the slow paced theme of the music. We intend to capture footage of couples walking around showing the male character to be in love with different girls however in the final scene at a restaurant he will propose to the girl who is in the video throughout tying in with the lyrics "I put a spell on you" as he cannot leave his main girlfriend.
