A2 Music Videos

Despite not fully having everything planned we are going ahead with our first filming session this Sunday. Originally we was planning on filming throughout the whole day starting at Ally Pally then going to Oxford Street then finally filming the hot tub scene at our group-mate Ellie's house. However we are going to do further planning and research before we go to Ally Pally and Central London. Overall we feel all 3 locations will tie in great with our theme.  

After comparing a variety of band names we have finally decided to call it IVY18. We thought of this name when looking at other artists albums names, our main inspiration was Adele as she uses her name in her albums follwed by her age. Ivy is also the character who Serine is playing and she's 18 hence the name IVY18.

Our song choice was in the jazz/ soul genre and we are trying to create a romantic narrative. Some ideas we have that we think will fit into our video are shooting at a shisha bar and and Enfield Playing fields.      

Creating music videos form scratch is undoubtably difficult therefore we have been looking for further ideas on Youtube looking at other artists in a similar genre and music videos with themes and ideas similar to ours. Looking at other music videos can help us make ours look more professional hence why it is important to do research.  

As winter and Christmas are approaching we are considering using the Xmas lights that are in Oxford Street for our music video as we feel it will work well with our theme of love and relationships.    

We pitched our idea to our classmates on October 13th, during the pitch we had not fully considered every aspect of the music video and we was open to inspiration and ideas. Afterwards we asked the audience for their opinion on our location and storyline ideas, as a result of this we are further planning using an Arab theme in a shisha lounge or in a house with arabic decor.

using online band generator names we come up with 'Magical elephants' and 'Jazz Monsters' however in class we used another game generating technique using a variety of adjectives, nouns and verbs. One band name that was mentioned was 'The amazing dragon smoked the delicious snow' however we as a group do not feel this name is relevant however we are going to continue the method we used in class until we successfully think of a name.

The genre we chose is jazz/ soul. We felt somewhere modern and contemporary is not a suitable environment for our music video therefore we are looking for places for natural and relaxed as it fits with the genre more. Practical locations are important as we do not want to be travelling across London for a few seconds of footage therefore we have decidied to try find nice locations in the local area. One location we have considered was Hilly Fields in Enfield as it has many scenic features. So far we are planning on having a couple walking down a path slowly with someone mysterious following them fitting certain scenes with related lyrics.

For the music video we plan on having a character lip-syncing on a stage with a smoke machine so we are looking into buying these props from amazon. Investing in extras will make our music video look more professional therefore making it more likely to achieve higher marks. The smoke machine will add ambience to the scene making it look more mysterious and exciting for the viewers.
