A2 Music Videos

As an assignment, i had to research a music video with a performance based video. Yet again I've chosen a Migos song, called 'Deadz' as their videos are extremely creative and i feel a lot of time and effort is put into them to entertain the audience. Throughout the video we an orchestra playing a variety of instrumentals in beat with the instrumental, therefore making this a performance based video. As of yet i haven't decided the genre or come up with ant initial ideas however i will look at a collection of Migos' videos for inspiration as they often vary their styles which can help to spark ideas in my head.

Migos, the trio from Atlanta come together to create the performance based music video for their song 'What the price'. In the Video we see actors playing a variety instruments ranging from guitars to hand held keyboards and signing into a microphone. The lyrics which promote their wealthy and lavish lifestyle match the video as large amounts of money are being shown like its nothing to them, this would support Andrew Goodwin's theory as the lyrics. Gotye created an abstract video for his song 'Somebody I Used To Know'. I don't really feel an abstract video like this can fit into Andrew Goodwin's theory as i don't think abstract visuals can match relate to a song as the lyrics can't really be 'abstract'. We see a lot of close up shots of his face in addition with vivid colours painted all over him and the background.

In A2 media studies we have to create our own music video. We will be looking at theorists such as Andrew Goodwin and using his theories to help us create professional looking music videos. We have a whole year to plan, finish and blog about our projects.
